This past week and next in math we will learn about statistics and probability and how the data can be represented. Did you know that there are two types of data; discrete and continuous. Ask your child the difference! Depending on the type of data that is represented will help to decipher the type of graph that needs to be used. We have been analyzing and displaying data in graphs of our own this week and will turn to looking at the differences between theoretical and experimental probability next week. The students have been told there will likely be a quiz for this unit near the end of next week.
In science we started the evidence and investigations unit which has been very interesting. We are learning what it would be like to be an investigator as we are looking at all types of evidence; footprints, markings, fingerprints, soil samples, fabric samples, chromatography and analyzing handwriting samples. A quiz on this unit will likely be at the end of next week as well as it's a quick one! Hard to believe there is only one unit left!! Sky science! We are finished our unit on ancient Athens in Humanities and learned the difference between direct and representative democracy. We are almost finished our book, "Airborn," and will be starting a unit on story writing and mystery (to go with the evidence and investigation unit in Science).
